Development of a Simple Measurement System for Piezoelectric Materials

The development of a piezoelectric device requires comprehensive knowledge about the piezoelectric material, especially the longitudinal coefficient d33. Thus, in this thesis a simple system is developed for measuring piezoelectric materials characteristics. The system is a PC based system equipped with a data acquisition card, a power amplifier, a speaker, a charge amplifier and a force meter. The prototype of the system is built and tested. The results show that it can be used to measure the piezoelectric coefficient at different forces and frequencies. Also, it can be applied to measure the transient behavior and resonant frequency of film type samples. Furthermore, the measurement of d33 piezoelectric coefficient is at a difference of 4.95% in comparison with a commercial instrument.
