The impact of tourism development on the visual landscape in the middle and downstream area of Dongshan River

| Popis: | 99 Since Yilan County Government actively develops the tourism mode in Dongshan River, not only the industrial model on both sides of the river, but also the substantial landscape has been changed. Therefore, this research aims to know what influence Dongshan river‘s early rural landscapes and tourist landscapes have on people‘s visual preference, thus to provide Yilan County Government with reference for tourist planning and management of the substantial landscape along Dongshan river. This research adopts experimental method, the research scope is the middle and lower reaches of the river where the tourist is the best-developed. The research subjects are undergraduates. The environment surrogate is primarily shown by photos. The questionnaire designs include three parts: basic information of the participants, visual landscapes features and overall landscape preference. The research was conducted firstly through a pre-test, then the actual survey. At last, 200 valid questionnaires were obtained. The independent samples T test results in this research indicate that participants know more about the historicity, naturalness and ephemera of the rural landscape than those of tourist landscapes, while know more about the stewardship, disturbance and visual scale of the tourist landscapes than those of rural landscapes. In addition, the multiple regression analysis indicates that the participants‘ visual preferences would be influenced by the rural landscapes' stewardship, coherence, disturbance, historicity, visual scale, imageability, complexity, naturalness and ephemera, and the tourist landscapes' stewardship, coherence, disturbance, visual scale, imageability, complexity and ephemera. As for substantial application, It is suggested that those remaining historic scenery in rural landscapes along the Dongshan river should be preserved and maintained, also the impact to landscapes resulted by agricultural development should be carefully considered. As for tourist landscapes, It is suggested to plant more seasonal plants and properly use the planning and management experience of middle reaches of Dongshan river on the tourism landscapes to be developed in the future. |
