The aim of this study was to explore the effects of computerized cooperative concept-mapping strategy on students’ learning achievement, cooperative learning attitude, concept-mapping, self-efficacy, and cognitive load. Two hundred and twenty fifth graders from seven classes were divided into an experimental group, in which the students learned with the cooperative learning strategy, and a control group, in which the students learned individually. The students in both groups were arranged to search for data on the Internet for developing concept maps in 6 learning periods within two weeks. From the experimental results, it was found that the experimental group students had significantly better learning achievement, concept map scores, and higher self-efficacy than those of the control group. Furthermore, the mental effort and mental load of experimental group students were significantly lower than those of the control group. Those results implied that computerized cooperative concept-mapping strategy not only help reduced cognitive load, but also efficiently improved students’ learning achievement. Finally, in the aspect of cooperative learning attitude of the experimental group, it was found that the lower- achievement students’ learning participation was improved after learning with the computerized cooperative concept-mapping strategy.
