Popis: | 99 This thesis investigated characteristics and differences were seen in expressions strategies for Declining requests used by Japanese Natural Speakers (JNS), Non-Japanese as Foreign Language learners (NJFL) and Japanese as Foreign Language learners (JFL) from the viewpoint of “Politeness”. There are 2 parts of investigation contents. (i) “Attitude Survey”, the research of the differences of Japanese and Taiwanese cultures for declining expressions. (ii) “Survey of Expression”, included the subjects of research who had written how to decline requests using Discourse Completion Test (DCT) forms and arranged in Semantic Formula. And using the degree of Politeness that consciousness about expressions in politeness were rated by subjects to investigate the relations between Declining expressions and politeness. The main results about the research of this thesis were as followed : (a) Japanese are hard to decline requests and Taiwanese are easy to decline requests. But a tendency of that Japanese decline even they want to decline could be seen. (b) All of Japanese and Taiwanese attach same importance to the relations of “Social Standing” and “Affinity”. But Japanese attach more importance to “Social Standing”, Taiwanese attach more importance to “Affinity”. (c) About the numbers of Semantic Formulas used, the more number was used 3~4 formulas in JNS, and the more number was used 1~2 formulas in NJFL. The number of formulas was used on the average. (d) About the choices and structures of Semantic Formulas, {Apologies}, {Reasons}, {Alternate Plans} and {Conclusions} were most used among three groups. Using formal expressions were seen in JNS, but there is no tendency can be found because there were more various combinations used by JFL and NJFL. (e) The numbers of Semantic Formulas used by three groups were not using formal structures but using various Semantic Formulas with degree of Politeness Axis. In addition, about the relations between the structures of Semantic Formula and the degree of Politeness Axis, the more number of the structures of declining used were {Apologies}+{Reasons}, even if Politeness was different from JNS and JFL. The structures were appeared most frequently because of differences of the degree of Politeness Axis in NJFL. |
