A Study on the Relationship between Social Studies Teacher's Teaching Beliefs and Teaching Behaviors on Curriculum Orientation toward Using of Social Studies Textbooks in Junior High Schools in Tainan City

Popis: | 99 The purposes of this study intended to explore the relationship between social studies teachers’ teaching beliefs and teaching behavior on curriculum orientation toward using of social textbooks in junior high schools. Questionnaires were applied in the study. In total, 273 Social studies teachers in public junior high schools in Tainan city were involved in the survey. The collected data data were analyzed by using Independent-Samples T test, and one-way analysis of variance and Pearson’s product-moment correction. The conclusions of this study were as follows: 1. The Social studies teacher’s teaching beliefs toward using textbooks in Tainan city tend to be “technology orientation” and “social orientation.” 2. The Social studies teacher’s teaching behaviors toward using textbooks in Tainan city tend to be “cognitive development orientation” 3. The overall Social studies teacher’s teaching beliefs toward using textbooks in Tainan city were affected by the size of the schools;the individual part was affected by gender, academic degree, teaching subject ; but not affected by seniority and location of schools. 4. The overall Social studies teacher’s teaching behaviors toward using textbooks in Tainan city were affected by the size of schools ; the individual part was affected by gender and the location of schools ; but not affected by academic degree and seniority. 5. There was a mediate positive significant relationship between Social studies teachers’ teaching beliefs toward using of textbooks in Tainan city and their teaching behaviors. |
