A Study of the Professional Core Competencies of Babysitters in Taichung City

| Popis: | 99 The purposes of this study were to understand the professional core competencies of babysitters, to compare the differences among the background variables of professional core competencies, and to examine the relationships between both of professional core competencies. A total of 420 participants were selected from the babysitters in Taichung City and the self-made questionnaire on the professional core competencies of babysitters was sent to them. There were 356 respondents with return rate 84.8%. In the study, descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, LSD post-hoc test, Pearson’s product moment correlation were used to analyze the data. The major findings were listed as follows: 1. The perceived professional core competencies by babysitters in Taichung City reach the upper-intermediate level; professional manner ranks highest, and information management, lowest. 2. Significant differences are found in the perceived professional core competencies by babysitters in Taichung City due to their different variables by educational background. 3. Significant differences exist in the perceived professional core competencies by babysitters in Taichung City due to their different locations by environmental background. 4. There were positive correlation in the professional core competencies at all levels of babysitters in Taichung City. |
