A Study of Team Performance of Elementary School Senior Graders

| Popis: | 98 The aim of the study was to investigate whether the group interaction impact its performance while 5-6 grade students in elementary school were applying team-based learning. A qualitative method was implemented to achieve the goal of the study and the data was collected from classroom observations, learning documents, and student interviews. The study found that there was a significant difference between the high performance group and low performance group on the leadership type, team role playing, performance expectation, and team effectiveness. In the high performance group, the team leader was able to lead, control and manage discussions effectively. In addition, members of the high performance group played their roles well, understood their own responsibilities, had more confident in their group and expected themselves have good performance during the cooperation process. Furthermore, according to the literature, team-base learning was supposed to help group members to develop their respectful attitudes, refine their cognitive knowledge and develop their cooperative abilities. However, the expectation was not supported by the study. Finally, based on the research findings the study provided a number of suggestions to improve the further teaching and studies. |
