As generally recognized, the traditional three level converter possesses many advantages, such as low stress on the switch, low ripple of the output voltage, etc. However, the three level converter has more switches than the pulse-width-modulated (PWM) converter. Aside from this, the current in and voltage on the switch can be instantaneously changed from zero to a fixed value or from a fixed value to zero, and hence the switching loss is indispensable. The higher the switching frequency is, the more the switching loss, thereby causing the industrial applications of the three level converter to be limited. Consequently in order to improve the aforementioned problem, the proposed soft switching is applied to the three level boost converter. By means of zero voltage transition under a fixed switching frequency, zero voltage switching can be easy to realize so as to reduce the switching loss and hence to enhance the efficiency of the overall system. Moreover, via voltage balance control, the three level boost converter can stably operate. In this thesis, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed topology are verified by Some simulated results based on IsSpice and some experimental results base on FPGA, respectively.
