Recently mobile multimedia communication products have achieved the characteristics: large storage capacity, high-performance, and “thin short” due to the advancements of multimedia technology. Mobile communication product makes communication more convenient and easier, and it becomes an important electronic product in our daily life while it brings timelines and convenience. Toward the development trend of consumer market, human-computer interface will become the key factor of product design, as consumers seek more intuitive and user-friendly. It is considered as a complex decision due to human-computer interface evaluation process covers a number of factors, such as technology and user needs. To design the most appropriate human-computer interface is an important issue. Not only does it allows the user easy to learn and operate, but it also aids decision-makers or designers reducing the risk in the early period of new product development process, and improve the effectiveness thus. During the evaluation process of mobile communication product, the first step is to determine the evaluation criteria. This research has been integrated with related research and the important evaluation criteria which contain 31 items and five aspects including operation, application, shape, functional and psychological, are proposed. The above evaluation criteria are main basis for this study. Furthermore, we use focus group method to sieve out the evaluation criteria. Then 23 evaluation criteria are sieved out by group discussions among experts. By using “Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)” final decision is made, at the same time it can also review and correct the non-consistency among experts’ opinions. According to the results of the analysis of this study, the relative weights of five aspects, which affect the mobile phone human-computer interface design, are as follows: functional, operation, application, shape and psychological aspects. As regards the criteria for the functional aspect, basic functions and additional functionalities of product should be the top priority to consider. In the operation aspect, the top priority consideration is easy to use, simple, user friendly interface and having error prevention and error handling. In the application aspect, the top priority consideration is superior layout, modularity and availability. In the shape aspect, the top priority consideration is monitor size and appearance. In the psychological aspect, the top priority consideration is design style and brand image. The evaluation model proposed in this study can be a reference for academic research to develop new methods in the future. Moreover, industries can also refer and implement it for the development of human-computer interface.
