The purpose of this study were to examine whether school-related stress damage academic achievement and physical-mental health for junior high school students. In addition, Internal control and self-efficacy were hypothesized to have moderating effect on the relationships between school-related stress and academic achievement as well as physical-mental health. The research sample consisted of 372 junior high school students from one junior high schools in Taipei City. Data obtained were analyzed by regression analysis. Primary findings were as follows: (1) school-related stress had negative effects on students’ academic achievement and physical-mental health, (2)internal control weakened the relationship between school-related stress and academic achievement, (3)self-efficacy weakened the negative effects of school-related stress on academic achievement and physical-mental health. Based on the findings, some educational implications and suggestions for further research were proposed.
