The study on the beliefs of life education of a low-grade elementary school teacher and implementation in her class

The aims of this research were to probe the beliefs and implementation of life education of a low-grade elementary school teacher in her class. In order to complete this study,the qualitative method was adopted by the researcher. For collected research data about life-experienced,the beliefs of life education,curriculum design and teaching method of subject, the researcher observed subject's teaching in her class and interviewed to subject deeply during one semester research period. The main conclusions of this study include: 1.The factors forming Yang-Yang’s beliefs of life education (1)The core educational beliefs are given by faith. (2)Learning, teaching experience and the feedback after the implementation solidified her practical beliefs. 2.The beliefs of Yang-Yang on the implementation of life education The three core beliefs, “infinite life”, “the law of kamma” and “creating mutual learning environment by the combination power of laws and friends” extend three dimensions of beliefs which are human beings to oneself, to the society and to the great nature. 2.1 Beliefs of “human beings to oneself” (1) Make students to establish their goal of life. (2) Form students the ability of change point of view by the heart of education. (3) Teach people three wisdoms -to be considerate, to overcome difficulties, to know mistake and put right. 2.2 Beliefs of “human beings to the society” (1) Lead students to choose learning paradigm. (2) Teach students the life attitude of being kind and grateful to others help. (3) To fulfill the virtue of all-embracing from the ethic education. (4) Focus on the learning attitude and daily practices. 2.3 Beliefs of “human beings to the great nature” (1) Emphasize the nature conservation. (2) Teach the behavior to respect and to care about lives. 3.The practice of Yang-Yang’s beliefs to the life education 3.1 The establish of goal (1) Assist learners to deepen their viewpoint of life and form the correct attitude of learning. (2) Lead teacher’s self-learning and growth. (3) Guide parents to participate in the implementation of life education. (4) Hope to achieve the final goal of clarifying social atmosphere. 3.2 The planning of curriculum (1) Construct linkage between the life education and curriculum and implement the integrated courses. (2) Custom festivals and special issues can be integrated into thematic teaching. 3.3 The implementation (1) Main teaching is based on ancient Chinese bible and book reading and the writing of diary of diligence. (2) Employ both random integrated teaching and experimental activities. (3) Explore the meaning of life and the value of behavior through reflective thinking and discussion in depth. (4) Combining teaching with daily practice to realize the practice and implementation of life education. According to the conclusions of this research, we suggest education administration authorities, teacher education institutions and the devoted teachers of life education.
