Building-up of Dynamic Competitive Advantage: On the case of BASSO Company

| Popis: | 92 Pneumatic nailer industry is the one which receives less attentions, as its global market size is relatively small at only about NT$ 15 billion. But Taiwanese companies has established the leading position in this industry. Due to it’s low profile business manner, few people know that Basso Industry Corp is the biggest one out of 18 key Pneumatic nailer/stapler manufacturers in the world. But hardly to believe, it’s capital is only about NTD 1.3 billion, is only 5.7% of TSMC in terms of capital size. In the past, there was only a few researches and studies concerning to this neglected industry. This article try to disclose the environment and characteristics of this industry, where Basso Industry Corp have taken the right strategy to response the global recession and maintaining its leading position in recent years. Throughout the study, two key factors of manufacturing capability development and partnership relationship are summarized. Basso’s leading manufacturing capability create outstanding operation performance, and, at the same time, combining close partnership with key customer to establish structural competitive barrier. As these two factors bundled effectively, Basso create even stronger competitiveness, and reinforce it’s leading position in this industry. Taiwan has many small enterprises like Basso with lean and organized structure and focusing in the highly specialized industries. The successful story of Basso may shed light on lessons worthy for them to study. |
