| Popis: | 92 A Relative Study about the Existence of Neutral Tone in Miao-Li Si-Xian Hakka Abstract Scholars have had different opinions about the existence of neutral tone in Miao-Li Si-Xian Hakka for a long time. However, many scholars used to adopt the traditional phonetics to analysis pronunciation. This paper adopts the methodology of experimental phonetics using the software, Multi-speech and Cool-Edit, to provide a relative study about the existence of neutral tone in Miao-Li Si-Xian Hakka. From the analysis of the waveform, spectrum and pitch contour, the characteristics of different words, such as duration, frequency except amplitude, can be evaluated. This study can mainly involve three chapters Suffixes, Gemination, Prefixes and Inffixes to measure the duration. And in the last chapter, we measure the pitch of Suffixes. Moreover, the existence of neutral tone can be proved by comparing whether the ratio between the formal and latter syllable is less than 0.5 or not. According to this study and analysis, it may be concluded that there is no neutral tone in Miao-Li Si-Xian Hakka. To fully understand the existence of neutral tone in Miao-Li Si-Xian Hakka, further study about other Hakka dialects is necessary. We also propose using the methodology of the sociolinguistics to study the phenomenon so that we can examine the existence of neutral tone in Hakka. |
