LAS-CDMA system, developed by LinkAir based on the invention patent of Professor Daoben Li in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, is characterized by the use of a spreading and encoding scheme called LAS coding that reduces system generated interference, thus increasing capacity. It is understood that each of the current 3G standards has its counterpart in a mode of LAS-CDMA for the same chip rate, carrier spacing, frame length, core network architecture and protocols. Furthermore, LAS-2000 is an evolution of the cdma2000 series of standards defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2) and supports from 3 to 6 times more voice or data capacity than IS-2000. W-LAS is an evolution of the UTRA W-CDMA series of standards defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and supports from 3 to 12 times more voice or data capacity than W-CDMA. TD-LAS is an evolution of the UTRA TD-CDMA series of standards defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and of the TD-SCDMA proposed by China and supports from 3 to 12 times more voice or data capacity than TD-SCDMA. The thesis gives an investigation on the LAS coding scheme to evaluate the basic features of the LAS-CDMA concept and a discussion on the interference suppression. To generate efficient and flexible LAS codes, some contributions can be found to improve the properties of known design schemes to LA, LS and LAS codes in the literature.
