| Popis: | 90 Because of dramatic change in information、technology and business operation environment, firms face serious competition. This situation also happened in shipping industry. A good operating performance is critical for business success. Accordingly, performance evaluation is a main concern of this study. Performance Evaluation has many methods. But non-financial indicators are difficult to get and doubt. So financial indicators are the best method to evaluate business performance. Financial statement is the end of business operation. It has been audited by CPA and easy to gather. So it’s can’t be doubt. This research will use financial ratio to build shipping industry performance model. Research data are choosing from 14 shipping business OTCs (Over-The-Counter) during 1995 to 1997. The relevance informantion of 1998 to 2000 are gathered. The study employes 20 financial ratios as management performance variable. Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Logit model and Multivariate Analysis are adopts in this study. A brief summary of the major findings is following: 1.A factor analysis was used to extract five criterias for evaluation. It includes Financial structure, Revenue, Steadity, liquidity and Assets turnover Power. All the criterias were within 86.87% of the total variance. 2.In order to realize shipping industry characteristic, a cluster analysis is used to divide the 14 companies into five clusters each year. 3.The performance model is﹕ Y=0.4054F1+0.2214F2+0.1498F3+0.1191F4+0.1043F5 We can put the factor scores into this model and get the rank of 14 shipping business. 4.By using this model,we show the NiceShipping Ltd. and Evergreen marine Corp. which are grouped in bad performance from 1995 to 1997.Wan Hai Lines Ltd. has better performance from 1995 to 1997.How will do they perform during 1998 to 2000?We put the factor scores into this model and then compare to the financial statemenet.It shows consistent.So it can prove the fitness and realiability of this model. |
