This study is to explore the possible difficulties faced by the nine-year-curriculum applied at elementary and junior high schools and tries to provide some feasible solutions from the viewpoint of knowledge management. By interviews with teachers at the elementary and junior high schools in Hsin-Chu county, we observe that the performance of the nine-year-curriculum is affected by the following factors: too much extra administrative work of teachers, lack of proper training courses for teachers to understand the nine-year-curriculum, insufficient information exchanges between teachers, and the doubt of parents about the nine-year-curriculum, etc. From the perspective of knowledge management, a unified and systematic formulation of the nine-year-curriculum easy for analysis is proposed, based on which strategies below are suggested to improve the performance of the nine-year-curriculum. 1. Knowledge bases, e.g., a portal web site about the nine-year-curriculum, should be built up to make the tacit knowledge explicit. 2. Expert systems, e.g., the teacher knowledge management (TKM) system, can be used for information integration. 3. Problems about the expert development can be solved by the creation of new knowledge and the use of education forum. 4. By sufficient sharing of knowledge, the doubt of parents about the nine-year-curriculum can be apparently alleviated. keywords﹕knowledge management, nine-year-curriculum, administration
