DRBEM Analysis on the Harbor Resonance due to the Wave Dissipation

Popis: | 87 In this study, a more effective numerical model using the dual reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM) is presented for predicting the oscillation and energy dissipation of linear waves in a harbor with bottom friction and boundary absorption. The numerical model is based on the small amplitude wave theory and employs the mild-slope equation as a basic equation. The mild-slope equation is reformulated to an inhomogeneous Helmholtz equation. Applying the conventional boundary element method to this inhomogeneous Helmholtz equation, the inhomogeneous part will result in a domain integral, which makes the computation complicated and messy. To improve this drawback, the DRBEM is adopted to transform the domain integral to boundary integral. In order to verify the validity of the present model, the numerical results are presented to show the effects of boundary absorption and bottom friction, and compared with experimental data by Ippen & Goda (1963) and Lee (1971). It shows that the present model is correct and effective to analyze practical harbor resonance problem. |
