Popis: | 87 This thesis aims to have a reflection on the English poetry teaching in senior high school in Taiwan. Though poetry is the most beautiful literary genre, most teachers in senior high school are reluctant to have English poetry as teaching material, and thus students can only have vague impression of the significance of English poetry. The researcher in the experimental class adopts an eclectic teaching method--the combination of the Direct Method, Communicative Language Teaching, the Reader Response Approach and Suggestopedia--to teach her students John Keats''s "Autumn"in order to testify the appropriateness of English poetry as teaching material in senior high school. Teaching aids like paintings and music in the experimental class are presented to promote the understanding of the images and themes of the poem. Meanwhile, a pre-instructional and a post-instructional questionnaires are used respectively in the very beginning and the end of the whole teaching activities to understand students'' comprehension of the poem and their receptivity of English poems as tools promoting English learning. |
