V.N. de Famalicão (Portugal) is indebted to Vasco de Carvalho(1888-1961). He improved Local History knowledge by collecting information, researching, and writing in newspapers and in the monographic series "Aspectos de Vila Nova" about a wide variety of themes on local studies. He donated his library and documents to the City Council to integrate the local-studies public library collections. This collection is composed by books and 10 387 documents (letters, posters, brochures, manuscripts, pictures, press clippings, among others) on V. N. de Famalicão. In this article we study two deep and rare (by contents, physical shape and organisation) groups of documents: the "Manifestos de Carvalho de Travassos" - brochures of the first half the 20th century written and printed by José de Araújo Carvalho (1866-1945) which were strong manifestos. |
