The paper depicts some chosen misconceptions about the Internet and its function in the scholarly information and communication processes. The myths described are connected with the open access to scholarly resources, scientific publishing on the Web and information retrieval and searching. The implications of those myths are indicated. The role of information and library science and profession in coping with the problem is stressed. |
