Background. The study of the biography of members of the teaching staff and heads of educational institutions within the framework of the historical and anthropological approach is one of the directions in restoring the history of specific educational institutions. The purpose of the study is to reconstruct the professional biography of Dmitry Nikolaevich Larionov, the second director of the Belgorod Pedagogical Institute, who headed it for 24 years. Materials and methods. To achieve this goal, an analysis was made of un-published documents from the funds of the State Archives of Penza Region – D.N. Lari-onov – inspector of Penza gymnasium and documents from the funds of the Russian State Historical Archive, as well as published materials. To restore the most complete picture of D.N. Larionov, the historical and biographical method was used. Results. The main stages of professional biography of D.N. Larionov from the moment of receiving secondary, and then higher education, until the end of pedagogical activity at the Belgorod Pedagogical In-stitute. Four periods can be distinguished in his professional activity: Kazan from 1866 to 1872, Penza from 1872 to 1876, Voronezh from 1876 to 1878 and Belgorod from 1878 to 1902. Conclusions. Professional biography of D.N. Larionov is a system of sequential movement up the career ladder from a gymnasium teacher to the position of director of a teacher's institute. It is established that he showed himself as a competent leader, teacher and public figure. His pedagogical merits as director of the Belgorod Pedagogical Institute were noted by the Minister of Education and the Trustee of the Kharkov Educational Dis-trict. |
