Popis: Common bunt, caused by Tilletia spp. is a very spread disease of wheat in Serbia. In the aim of separation of source of resistance to the causer of common bunt, its including in breeding process and recommendation to the production, the resistance of 19 wheat cultivars in 1998 and 1999 years and 19 in 1998 only was tested. The plants were grown in the pots on soil from experimental plots of Small grain Center in Kragujevac. The seeds were inoculated with the suspension of telio-spore of Tilletia tritici. The results show that in 1998 very resistant were cultivars Dična and Dejana, and very susceptible Renesansa, Pesma and Takovčanka. The percentage of number of infected kernels per plant, in the average of all investigated cultivars, was 61 (Tab. 1) and percentage of mass of infected kernels 44 in relation of total grain yield (Tab. 3). In 1999 intensity of infection was lower (29 and 16%, respectively). In this year resistant cultivars were Dična, Rusija, Košuta and Dejana. In the average for both years resistant cultivars were Dična and Dejana. From the cultivars investigated in 1998 only (Tab. 2 and 4) cultivars Gruža, Prima and Lasta were resistant and Evropa 90, Levčanka, Rana 5 and Kg 56S very susceptible. As the cultivars which possess high productivity and the other positive characteristics were, in the great extent, susceptible to common bunt it is necessary breeding for resistance and application of effective fungicides for protection of wheat. .
