The un-ended wars occurring within the central African Great Lakes Region beard strong negative impacts particlulary on collective natural resources. The state institutions in charge of natural resources management became too weak for sound environmental policy and decision making. In this context, crucial problems about natural resources governance are posed for meeting socio-economic needs of ordinary users. Main focus of such governance primarily lay onto common resources. Little literature is available on Collective natural resources which appear up to now as African societies’ specificity. It appeals to resources that carry a people’s identity in its whole functional unit. This chapter aims at presenting collective character as an asset for the governance of natural resources in post-conflict context. |
