| Popis: | A new species of Magnolia from Chiapas, Mexico is described and illustrated. A table of morphological characters contrasting species of Magnolia Sect. Magnolia in Chiapas is provided. Magnolia mayae is similar to M. grandiflora, but it differs from the latter in having longer leaves, less coriaceous and abaxially glabrous vs abaxially densely ferrugineous pubescent; smaller flowers with less than half of the stamens, and a smaller number of carpels. |
