Popis: The Hoffmann-Tinel sign is well-known to professionals dealing with nerve lesions and is widely used as a provocative test. It was described by Paul Hoffman and Jules Tinel in the same year (1915), independently. In the present article, a biographical sketch of both authors is presented and the method for eliciting the sign and the sometimes controversial information of its results are discussed.
