Child Psychiatric Clinic, a novelty in Granada linked to Cuban internationalist medical aid

Popis: Introduction: in Grenada there was no differentiated care for children, adolescents and youth in the Specialty of Psychiatry. From January 20, 2015, with the arrival of a Cuban specialist collaborator, the Clinic of Child Psychiatry began in the General Hospital of Saint Georges, which was a novel experience, useful to increase the quality of life of the people of Granada, who previously had to travel to other countries in search of the service. Objective: to characterize the patients attended to at the Child Psychiatric Clinic at Saint George's Hospital, Grenada, in the period from 20 January 2015 to 31 December 2018. Methods: a descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted. Results: adolescents and women predominated. Most cases had a family history of mental disorders and were linked to school or work. Conduct disorders, substance use and suicidal ideation or attempt were notable. Conclusions: the results presented reflect that the impact of this service on the population has been positive.
