ORGANIC PRODUCTION IN THE DANUBE REGION

| Popis: | The authors discuss the concept of organic farming in the Danube region. Despite the fnancial and economic crisis, the sector of organic production showed growth rates in previous years. Growth rates were lower compared to the years before the crisis, but the trend remained positive. In the countries of the Danube region, the level of development of organic farming is different and can be correlated with the degree of development of the country. Western European countries have proven to be leaders in organic production. The authors come to the conclusion that in Serbia, this form of production is well developed compared to countries that are at a similar level of development. For these reasons, the authors believe that Serbia has the ability and resources to develop a competitive sector of organic production, which will contribute to the further development of the country and rural areas. |
