Popis: The proposed study is dedicated to old prints published in Italy in the late 16th and early 19th centuries from the collection of the Berdychiv Social, Historical, and Economic Museum (1926-1954). As of October 1, 1928, the museum library had 6,300 books, of which about 3,600 were old prints. Today, the former museum library collection is stored in the Department of Library Collections and Historical Collections of the Institute of Bibliology of Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. All the oldprints studied in the article were published during 1597-1802 in Venice, Rome in Latin and Italian. The history of book publishing in Italy began in 1465 with the founding of the first typography in the Benedictine monastery in Subiaco, near Rome. In 1469 the typography was opened in Venice, and at the beginning of the XVI century. about half of the publications printed in Italy came from Venetian publishing houses. Therefore, in the collection of the former museum library, most of the old prints come from Venice from the publishing houses Balleoniana, Remondiana, Marco Zaltieri, Lucio Spineda, Simone Occhi, Marco Ginammi, Sebastiano Coleti. One of the books was printed in the printing house of the Holy Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith in Rome. Some of the old prints studied in the article most likely came to the museum library from the library of the monastery of the Order of the Barefoot Carmelites in Berdychiv. However, it has not been possible to establish whose libraries most of the books came from, as they do not have the bookmarks of the former owners. Further research of the library collection of the Berdychiv Historical and Economic Museum will contribute to the discovery of unique monuments of book history and culture of Italy and other European countries and theit introduction into scientific circulation.
