Popis: Topical otic antibiotics are often used in otitis externa and chronic otitis media. This study investigated the in vitro effectiveness of the drops containing rifampicin (10 mg/ml), gentamicin (5 mg/ml), ciprofloxacin (3.0 mg/ml), which can be used topically in draining ears. Thus, we used meticillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Proteus spp, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter spp and Escherichia coli strains was isolated from draining ears of the patients referred to our polyclinic. Twenty strains from each bacteria were included in the study. The zone of inhibition brought about by the drops on these bacterium plaques was measured. The average zone diameter was obtained by dividing the sum of zone diameters from 20 bacteria species to 20. Among all bacteria, ciprofloxacin was found the most effective.
