Minimum intervention treatment in school children with cavity

Popis: Introduction: Minimum intervention in dentistry is a concept based on a better understanding of tooth decay. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of minimum intervention tratment in school children with cavity. Methods: A quasi-experiment study of therapeutic intervention was carried out in 74 school children aged 6-9, from both sexes, assisted in Mártires del Moncada Teaching Provincial Stomatological Clinic in Santiago de Cuba province, from September, 2022 to May, 2023, who were assigned from an alternating way to 2 groups: group A (study) that received minimum intervention therapy, and group B (control) received conventional treatment. Results: In the series there was a prevalence of the school children aged 8-9, female sex, cavity lesions with cavitation, as well as selective removal tretment up to the soft dentin (45.4%). Minimum intervention therapy was effective in the 110 treated teeth, independently of the teething type; conventional treatment, just in 86.4% of the temporary teething. Conclusions: Minimum intervention treatment is an effective procedure in patients with cavity lesions in temporary and permanent teeth.
