Popis: У статті здійснено порівняльно-типологічний аналіз новел І. Франка «Сойчине крило» та С. Цвейга «Лист незнайомої» на рівні сюжету, побудови образної системи та художніх особливостей.Особливу увагу приділено змалюванню жіночих характерів у новелах. Визначено риси подібності та відмінності в художній організації обох текстів. Доведено, що обидві новели репрезентують тип психологічної модерністської малої прози.
The article deals with comparativetypological analysis of short stories “The Jay’s Wing” by I. Franko and “The Letter by Unknown Woman” by S. Zweig on the level of the plot, construction of the image system, poetics features.The aim of this study is the typological and comparative analysis of short stories “The Jay’s Wing” by I. Franko and “The Letter by Unknown Woman” by S. Zweig.Typological similarity between “The Jay’s Wing” and “The Letter by Unknown Woman” is manifested primarily at the level of plot construction and genre form. In both works, two men – in Austrian story he is “renowned novelist R.”, in Ukrainian – Mr. Khoma, nicknamed Massino, received letters from their former beloved women on the day of their 40th anniversary.The letter in the Austrian short story is written by a woman who devoted all her life to the love of R. She fell in love with him even in adolescence, met several times in different periods of her life. She gave birth to a son from a writer.The boy died. And after fifteen years she wrote a farewell letter before her own death. In the Ukrainian short story tells about a woman who left Massino, offended him. Her life was unsuccessful.And after several years of suffering and misery, she wrote a letter asking for forgiveness and hoping for forgiveness. The article gives a detailed analysis of female characters that are revealed in the works. In both works the main theme is the fatal love, but Franko’s end is optimist and S. Zweig is tragic. Unknown Woman forgiven her treacherous lover, and in the Ukrainian work on the contrary – Masino forgiven Manya. The works are opposed to the motive of betrayal/fidelity: Manya betrays and regrets, and the Unknown woman bears allegiance to a treacherous lover through all her life. The article is of interest to the structure and artistic peculiarities of modern little prose in two national literature – Austrian and Ukrainian.
