Popis: Working with cases in a classroom setting, whether cases that faithfully describe real-life events or cases that are predesigned and retreat from real-life events, for pedagogical reasons necessitates considerable pedagogical thought and planning by the educator. Scaffolding these learning processes therefore involves a multitude of learning forms during a classroom activity. In this chapter, we argue that case-based teaching and learning can bring a range of learning possibilities to the classroom. As a distinct focal point of case-based teaching and learning, we want to advance the notion of cases as stories consisting of a narrative form containing elements of plot, character, and story. In this understanding lies a connection to the narrative composition and therefore narrative learning forms that can help explain the pedagogical effectiveness of case-based teaching and learning.
