Gradske i privatne škole zamjenjuju crkvene, a gradske ubrzo postaju državne škole. Humble beginnings of education in Croatia have been squarely in hands of various monastic orders which had worked in her lands. They opened schools and taught the populace, but with passage of years the Church had started to separate from schools, its influence slowly taken by the state. Urban and private schools eclipsed church ones, but soon enough urban schools became state schools. In this work, I will write about larger changes that have affected the educational system in Croatia over the centuries, as well as about history of the village Strizivojna, but my biggest focus will be on history of the school Ivana Brlić Mažuranić in Strizivojna. The primary school in Strizivojna has been around for 188 years. It has exchanged several school buildings, has a dislocated school building in Soljak as well as its own school-sports hall. It boasts a rich history of work and study, with many accomplishments achieved by its teachers and students. |
