Primary hyperparathyroidism is a common endocrinological disorder in adults, but it is much rarer in children and adolescents. In this manuscript, the medical history of two young adolescents with primary hyperparathyroidism due to an isolated parathyroid adenoma is reported. It remains important that clinicians take this disorder into account since a delayed diagnosis can result in serious end-organ damage. The current diagnostic procedures and the treatment of a parathyroid adenoma in children are discussed. |
