5 Abstract The theme of my thesis is baroque legends and cults of virgines capitales. The introduction into the topic is covered by three chapters dedicated to hagiography, baroque literature and baroque piety. This general part is followed by chapters concerning virgines capitales, their legends and baroque cults. Focusing mainly on baroque legend collections originating in Czech lands, I also take into account the medieval hagiographic tradition. In my thesis I cover multitude of manifestations of esteem towards virgines capitales, such as pilgrimages to places dedicated to them, folklore plays and other folk customs. |
