The bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of learning about fishing in the archaeological contexts of the Czech Republic. The work gathers existing knowledge on this topic, especially published findings of artifacts potentially documenting fishing (such as hooks, weights, willow fish traps), and findings of the remains of fish bones from prehistory and the Middle Ages. The catalog includes approximately 2,000 finds from 96 localities in the Czech Republic. In addition to a literature search and the creation of a database of finds, an archeozoological analysis of a selected set of fish bones dating to the early Middle Ages (Tismice, Kolín district) was performed, where the species and anatomical representation and taphonomy of the findings were monitored.
