Popis: Detailed analysis of marine faunal remains was conducted at an early Saladoid (Ceramic Age) coastal site, located on the island of Antigua, West Indies. Previous subsistence models in the Caribbean are closely linked to theories of migration and culture change. I discuss the economic importance of marine fauna at P A -15 (Doig' s) in order to understand the factors underlying variation in the faunal assemblage. The results of the faunal analysis indicate that subsistence strategies of Ceramic Age Antiguans are complex, and that subsistence models are currently too simplistic to be used to describe broad historical trends.
