Thanks to a recently published database of individual human geometries including pinnae and complete ear canals, it is now possible to create precise ear canal replicas. Furthermore, microphone capsules can be embedded in the replicated ear canal geometries for clean reference measurements at the eardrum position, which was done by the authors in a previous study. This idea is extended here by manufacturing full outer ears using 3D printing and silicone casting, in such a way as to be compatible with the KEMAR artificial head. This allows for accurate and repeatable acoustic measurements of individual outer ear geometries with easy access to sound pressure data within the ear canal. Various materials are used in the 3D printing process and their effects on the acoustic measurements are investigated.
