Popis: | Decoction of the stem bark of Spathodea campanulata (SC) exerted a hypoglycaemic activity in streptozotocin (SZ) diabetic mice. Later, the decoction, washed with chloroform, was divided in water and butanol fractions. Both had a hypoglycaemic activity but were devoid of any influence on insulin levels in SZ diabetic mice. The decoction also decreased blood glucose levels in a glucose tolerance test (GTT) in normal mice. |
