Competitive balance can occur during a game, during a tournament or historically, over several seasons. Ideally speaking, a season is balanced when each team wins half of the games in a season and lose the other half or all games finish by a draw so, at the end of the season, all the teams will be equal. Competitive balanced analysis is one way to analyze the internal championship. The more unbalanced the championship is the interest for this championship is lower. Decreased interest in that championship translates into the decrease of the paying spectators, the decrease of the television channels willing to provide the competition and the decrease of the sponsors interested in investing in that sport. In short, a low competitive balance means less money invested in that sport. |
