Popis: | We read with interest the recently published article by Mittal et al1 entitled “Neutrophil Activation of Endothelial Cell-Expressed TRPM2 Mediates Transendothelial Neutrophil Migration and Vascular Injury.” The article addresses one of the most important topics in vascular biology that is involved in many common inflammatory disorders, and I wish to take issue with one face of their study. The study presented by Mittal et al1 misses some important supporting findings they showed, namely: (1) Ca2+-induced and oxidative stress–related changes in F-actin dynamics, (2) its role in disruption of endothelial adherens junctions (AJs), and (3) coordinated disruption tight junctions after loss of continuous AJs. Although studies have indicated polymorphonuclear neutrophil–induced disruption of endothelial barrier by formation of intercellular gaps secondary to disassembly … |
