Popis: | Plantar fibromatosis is a relatively uncommon benign disease characterized by bilateral nodular thickening of the plantar fascia similar in appearance to the disease which occurs in the palm of the hand. Descriptions of plantar fibromatosis in the literature were usually included as a part of a syndrome described as ectopic diseases of Dupuytren. Isolated case reports have described Dupuytren-like contractures of the plantar fascia but often suggested a relationship with palmar lesions. We have recently treated four patients with isolated plantar fibromatosis without other stigmata of Dupuytren's disease. These patients were treated by removal of all the involved plantar fascia with a wide margin of normal-appearing fascia. |
