Popis: | Dialysis-related amyloidosis is a serious complication in patients who are receiving long-term dialysis. It is important to determine the mechanism of its onset and to establish preventive as well as therapeutic measures. Many factors appear to be related to its onset. While massive accumulation of β2-min vivo is a trigger for the disease, studies of several other factors involved are now being conducted. Of the ApoE genotypes, ApoE ɛ4 appears to be a risk factor for the onset of β2-m dialysis-related amyloidosis. Removal of β2-m by high-flux dialysis membranes has been attempted with some success. More effective treatment methods are currently being sought. |
