Conventional antibiotic therapies for biofilm-trigged oral diseases are becoming less efficient due to the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains. Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) is hampered by restricted access to bacterial communities embedded within the dense extracellular matrix of mature biofilms.
