Popis: | Publisher Summary The world faces a growing demand for information on all kinds of topics. Such information can be collected and compiled in a survey. Executing a survey and producing reliable information can be an expensive and time-consuming process. Rapid developments in computer technology have made it possible to conduct more surveys and more complex surveys. Computer hardware and software are being used in more and more steps of the survey process. This chapter describes various steps in the process and the software that can be used in it. Some of the methodology problems are highlighted. This chapter presents examples of software that could or could not be used in specific situations. The first step in any survey is the design of the survey. The survey researcher must define the population to be investigated, the data to be collected, and the characteristics to be estimated. A questionnaire must be designed and tested. Usually, only a sample of the population is investigated. |
