Popis: | The usefulness of 99mTc-pertechnetate brain scans and dynamic flow studies in the evaluation of patients with arteriovenous malformations (AVM) of the brain was analyzed in a series of 25 patients. The radionuclide studies were correlated with the cerebral arteriograms. When AVM was present, there was quick concentration then rapid washout of the nuclide. Irregularly shaped “hot spots” were often diagnostic for AVM. Excrescences involving the draining veins were frequently seen. The combination of clinical findings, radionuclide flow pattern, and irregular shape are diagnostic for AVM in most cases. |
