Popis: | There are numerous reasons why the study of sex allocation has attracted a great deal of both theoretical and empirical attention. To begin with, sex allocation is a ubiquitous phenomenon. All sexually reproducing animals exhibit some apportionment of reproductive effort between sexual functions. Sex ratios in organisms with separate sexes (gonochores), relative investment in sexual functions in simultaneous hermaphrodites, and age or size at which individuals change from one sexual function to another in sequential hermaphrodites are all forms that apportionment may take. |
