Popis: The article examines the problem of adaptation of English culture to the postcolonial situation of the middle of the twentieth century on the example of the novels of G. Green and E. Burgess. The variety of forms of hybrid identity is becoming one of the main themes of the "Malay Trilogy" by E. Burgess, whose novels are viewed as an intermediate stage between the colonial and the postcolonial novel itself in English literature.
