Popis: | A glacial origin had been suggested for the Upper Brioverian pebble mudstones of the Armorican Massif. The lack of any true evidence of glacial abrasion on the pebbles, the turbiditic sedimentary environment and the great amount of resedimentation figures would rather plead for a deposition by debris-flow or mass-flow. The Late Ordovician diamictites which contain striated pebbles are inferred to be of glacio-marine origin. The new palaeomagnetic data are suggesting that the periglacial deposits of southeastern Europa are located close to the Late Ordovician pole for Gondwanaland. |
