Popis: | Microbial inoculation with appropriate inorganic-organic amendments is a promising strategy for ecological rehabilitation at bauxite residue disposal areas. Nevertheless, research on screening suitable plant growth-promoting bacteria with tolerance to highly sodic-alkalinity is very limited in the literature. In this study, novel plant growth-promoting bacteria isolated from bauxite residue were used to investigate their potential for revegetation. Under high saline-alkalinity stress, inoculation of Z18 and Z28 increased the activity of antioxidative enzymes, whilst improving chlorophyll and carotenoid contents in ryegrass. Inoculation of the selected strains greatly reduced damage to organelles in ryegrass as observed by transmission electron microscopy. Based on 90-day soil incubation, inoculated strains improved physicochemical properties of bauxite residue and improved plant growth. These findings suggest that Z18 and Z28 may be selected as potential strains for vegetation establishment, aiding microbial remediation at bauxite disposal areas. |
